Sermon Prayer
The words 'prayer' and 'sermon' are often used without realizing their actual essence. For many folks, a Sermon Prayer session is about attending the Sunday Church, i.e. just a matter of following the family ritual or the society's traditions to present oneself as being religious-inclined. Further, many folks believe that a prayer is a method for placating God for some matters that seem beyond redemption. Many people may even argue about a prayer being a medium of getting closer to God and being superior to a sermon that is often interpreted as a general religious discourse, for a group of people. However, none of these distinctions truly reflect the holy purpose of a prayer or a sermon. Those who understand the true meaning of a prayer or a sermon don't differentiate between them in terms of being tools to appease or approach God in any way. Beyond these self-made interpretations, each prayer or a sermon has a distinct history that has made them sacred. The Lord's Prayer is often called the 'Our Father Prayer'. This is most commonly recited prayer among Christians. It actually has two versions in the New Testament. There are no strict rules regarding the oration of a prayer or the timing of a sermon. Many after-Sermon Prayer sessions are also scheduled at churches to ensure that the comfort of the visiting church members is addressed. While a prayer is generally understood, there are some conflicting views regarding the sanctity of sermon. Thus, it is advised that the advent of sermons and their presence in contemporary times is seen in a broader perspective. Understanding Sermons-in the Christian faith, a sermon represents a form of dialogue between the orator and people who have congregated in a place of worship. Often sermons are held in the monologue form wherein the participation of the audience is limited. However, there are no rules that define the degree of interaction during a sermon. Many people tend to think of a sermon as a lecture or a speech that is made to address some common issues. However, its bigger purpose is to address a group of common believers and direct them towards enlightenment or a better way of existence. |
